Montana.

Concept: Happy new year to everybody, people!;) This shot has nothing to do with social security issues;)

Manipulation info: Another of my microstock shots taken in studio. I added some drama by merging in a slightly multiplied layer of almost full GB channels (no red) with the channel mixer (highly transparent), then focused the image in the center by darkening the composition on the sides, burned the eyes a bit, popped them out with levels and added a red overlay brush to make them scarier. Than the almost unnoticable smoke layer was added to the barrel and the background pasted in with a bottom mask. That's pretty much it.

Strobist info: Shot in my home studio with a simple left/right umbrella/Speedlite setup in front (silver/white) and a "hat" light in the back right which spilled on the nose, arms and pistol as well. Triggered via ST-E2 with +FEC compensation.

The Romantics.

Concept: Really?

Manipulation info: One of my old techniques this time presented at the rawest state possible. Two different exposures blended together via masking (actually only a vertical stroke with a soft big brush, that's it). Hope you like it, I don't;)

Strobist info: The hair strobe (550EX set at 1/8 power) from the back right fired in the hand and the knife). The two front ones, umbrelled, controlled with the ST-E2 (E-TTL, 1:4) can be seen (their angle and position) in my eyes. Very, very simple reverse engineering needed. And obviously you can see the scene was manipulated afterwards (the eyes do lie, I confess);)

The portrait.

Concept: Nada.

Additional info: Shot with three Speedlites, two umbrelled in front (left/right, ratio 1:1, but slightly different angles/distances) and one in back as a hair light (550EX, I believe it was on 1/8 power, straw gobo).

Gaia.

Concept: Gaia's slipping away each and every time we touch a tree. The meaning of nature's "paraside" will soon encounter it's etymological origin, won't it?

Background: FF, that's all I'm giving as a hint today;)

Manipulation info: As always layered the whole scene, used adjustment layers to pop out the colors, draw some selections and filled them with colors and textures (the ground flying off) and finally enlarged the canvas and added the flood filter.
